We also have a full fledged Gym replete with all the necessary sports and gym equipment. The last period of one hour duration designated as hobby period is devoted to pursuance of hobbies. The students, having a wide range of options to choose from, are trained by experts of the field and taken to compete at various levels outside the school. This provides the student ample scope to assess themselves by state and national standards.

3) Science & Math Laboratories :

Fully equipped laboratories for Math and all branches of Science viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology and Biology cater to practical and heuristic learning. Besides ICT enabled digital labs for Math, Science, Social sciences and English complement the lessons taught in the class for both reinforcement and enjoyment.

4) NIIT @ e-guru :

As today computers play an important role in our daily life, DAV Public School, Safilguda, in coordination with NIIT, has introduced a computer teaching program known as e-guru. This program introduces young children to basic computer concepts such as MS office, HTML, C++ etc. This program also uses multimedia programs to teach class subjects like Math, Science and English which will help the students to improve their analytical and language skills. The basic aim of the programme is to integrate Information Technology with the different subjects right from Class I. Though CBSE offers Computers as an optional subject at ix and X, we have made it compulsory, knowing the vital role it plays in the cyber age. Students are given a certificate on qualifying in the exam.

5) ICT In Class Rooms :

Besides making students feel at ease with computers by initiating them into computer education in their early formative years, the school also encourages students to use IT in their learning by using a cache of softwares that are made available to them. The teachers, all of who are computer literate, use it extensively to complement their lessons. The school has ten smart labs accessible to students of all classes. The electronic wonders blend joy with learning helping to reinforce class room learning with extended exercises and other experiences. The boards being interactive, the students are able to write, erase and rewrite at their will that passively helps them to build knowledge. ( PHOTO)

6) Teacher enrichment programmes :

The implementation of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system by C.B.S.E. Board has brought a paradigm shift in evaluation. The system envisages making students think laterally and beyond the confines of books. It involves breaking the syllabus into two semesters, each consisting of two formative and one summative or terminal pen and paper test. Formative tests with their liberal outlook are intended to unleash the inner potentials and propensity of the students. The CCE helps students to explore, learn to learn and thus make them thinking individuals who can contemplate out of the box and be a partner in the learning process. This system of evaluation with its pragmatic appeal has been widely appreciated and accepted. The complete scheme of CCE is given in the student's diary for the parents and students to peruse closely. This scheme has already been in practice up to class V since 2005 and has then been implemented in other classes from 2009-10

8) ENVIRONMENTAL CONCIOUSNESS AND LIFE SKILLS:
D.AV believes in carving out sensitive citizens for the country with concern for the society and environment at large. Eye feasting lush green play ground and well groomed garden that greet them everyday automatically impacts the children to be environment conscious. Besides organizing cleanliness and plantation drives, programmes of awareness for mass are undertaken to sensitize common people about environmental and health issues.

Holistic education envisages fortifying children against all odds. Self confidence, self realization and introspection are very important to sculpt a human being out of a man. The school is in tie with Vivekananda Institute for Human Excellence, Rama Krishna Mutt, which is arduously engaged in carving out young leaders. The school invites guest lecture from time to time for spiritual satiation and inspiration to think beyond self. Students also participate with gusto in the various competitions and workshops conducted for youth by the Institute. Noble gestures of contributing help in aid of old age homes and the orphanage adopted by the school and making by- monthly visits by turns impact the children in being empathetic. It also serves them to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards making the world a place worth living for the less fortunate people
